Mallory N. Price

As a master’s student here at CPCL, I’m assisting in a project with the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education and with MGS, about H2S found in rocks in Monroe, Mi that has been contaminating water and air in the area. Working on this project gives me an ideal opportunity to gain experience in not only geochemical techniques and analytical equipment, but also the ability to refine my knowledge on rock and mineral characterization and coring processes. Prior to starting at WMU, I got my B.S. with Research Distinction in Geosciences at The Ohio State University, with a certification in Museum Studies. In my undergrad, I completed research on seismicity in Ohio Stadium, and used data collected by seismometers located in the stands to compare events – in my case music concerts – to show exact timing of events captured in the seismographs, and to calculate relative moment magnitudes of certain occurrences throughout the concerts.
