Dr. Mohammed Hashim, awarded tenure-track professor position at University of Hawaii at Manoa

CPCL alum, Dr. Mohammed Hashim has accepted a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oceanography at the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He will be starting in January 2026. His lab will focus on studying seawater carbonate chemistry and carbonate sediments and will explore the roles of calcium carbonate minerals in the oceanic carbon cycle, quantify the impact of sub-seafloor processes on ocean chemistry, develop and test ocean-based carbon sequestration techniques, and reconstruct Earth's history using the carbonate archive. Mohammed is currently recruiting students for 2 Ph.D. positions.
